Book A Diabetes Consultation At Orange Grove Clinic

Type 2 diabetes symptoms can be very subtle, or may at times seem harmless, as though you don’t have diabetes at all.

Ignoring the symptoms, over time, and not taking medical advice may develop diabetes complications.

Early, or pre diabetes diagnosis is actually a “ good thing “ ……it means you can make the lifestyle changes, ahead of any problems

Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms

Individuals experience different signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes, and sometimes there may be no typical symptoms.

Risk Assessment ….If You Are Showing Possible Prediabetes Tendencies

Many people have prediabetes symptoms , this is where their blood glucose level is above the normal range (4 – 7 mmol) increasing their risk of developing diabetes .

These levels of blood sugar are a precursor to type 2 diabetes.

There is no cure for type 2 diabetes. But when diagnosed as pre diabetes it may be possible to control the condition, to a point where you do not need medication to manage it, and your body does not suffer ill effects from having blood sugar levels that are too high.

The earlier diabetes is diagnosed , the sooner lifestyle changes can be made to control it .

A 30-minute consultation can be arranged at Orange Grove , with Dr Alisha, the Diabetes Specialist for a full diagnosis and the best advice .

Your visit will involve……

A Diabetes risk questionnaire

Height, weight, blood pressure, HbA1c blood test ….using the Siemens Vantage Equipment

Body Composition Analysis…using an INBODY scale.

Inbody Equipment For Muscle And Fat Measurement

Who have not been fully diagnosed with diabetes, who want to check their current health status, and understand if they are at risk of developing diabetes.

A healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight and avoiding tobacco use, are ways to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Diagnosed with Diabetes…. and due for a Regular check up ?

When you arrive in the Orange Grove Diabetes Clinic , the staff will take measurements of your height, weight and blood pressure and blood sugar levels

If you regularly record your blood sugar levels bring in your “ diary “ the more information Dr Alisha has, the better she can advise the best way forward

A HbA 1c test ( Glucometer ) test is done using the Seimens Vantage equipment

The hemoglobin A1c test tells us your average level of blood sugar over the past 2 to 3 months.

HbA1c Test With Seimens Vantage

This is a gold standard test when it comes to know how well you are able to cope with diabetes.

Most doctors emphasize on reaching the target HbA1c levels in order to control diabetes, and to avoid heart disease, kidney disease, and eye problems.

A HbA1c test indicates the person’s risk of developing heart diseases, nerve problems, ischemic stroke, heart failure, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, cognitive decline, increased risk of fractures, and many other complications.

That is why you need to get an HbA1c test once every 6 months.

Accurate Diagnosis is the key to taking action.

What happens if you don’t do anything about diabetes?

If left untreated, diabetes can lead to devastating complications, such as heart disease, nerve damage, blindness, kidney failure and amputations.

With constant unchecked high blood sugar levels, there is glucose toxicity.

Over a period of time, high blood sugar levels lead to damage of the small blood vessels and the nerves.

All the small blood vessels that supply nutrients to vital organs like the heart, kidneys, eyes, and other parts are damaged. This directly results in damage to those organs.
